Another blast of ice and snow is headed for Fredericksburg.
Rain will move into the region Sunday after 4 p.m. and change to snow, freezing rain and sleet early Monday morning, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
Snow is expected to be heavy at times Monday, with six to 10 inches expected in the Fredericksburg area.
Monday’s high may reach 25. The overnight low will be in the single digits, with wind chill values as low as -2.
Tuesday is expected to be mostly sunny, with a high near 32.
Central Rappahannock Regional Library branches are closed.
City of Fredericksburg government offices and courts are closed. Essential personnel must report as directed by their supervisor.
City of Fredericksburg Public Schools are closed. Code red for 12-month staff. The March School Board meeting will be rescheduled.
Dorothy Hart Community Center is closed.

Gov. Terry McAuliffe has declared a state of emergency for Virginia in response to today’s storm.
A winter storm warning remains in effect for the Fredericksburg region through 9 p.m. Monday, March 3, including the counties of Spotsylvania, Orange, Stafford and King George.
Heavy snow will continue through the morning and taper off from north to south in the late afternoon, according to the National Weather Service (NWS). Six to ten inches total is predicted. Sleet and freezing rain could mix-in at times, making travel extremely dangerous.

Virginia State Police dispatch centers received nearly 1,000 calls for service between 12 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Monday, related to the winter storm sweeping through the state.
“Troopers responded to more than 300 traffic crashes and 156 disabled vehicles across the Commonwealth between those hours,” said Corinne N. Geller, Virginia State Police public relations director. The majority of crashes involve damage to vehicles and no injuries. There have been no weather-related traffic deaths reported at this time, Geller said.

Fredericksburg’s Alum Spring Park, Old Mill Park, Dixon Park and the Dog Park remain closed due to icy conditions.

Central Rappahannock Headquarters Library and CRRL branches in Stafford and Spotsylvania will have a delayed 10 a.m. opening on Wednesday. Westmoreland branches will open at the regularly scheduled times.
City of Fredericksburg Public Schools and school offices will open two hours late on Wednesday, March 5.
Spotsylvania County Public Schools will be closed. Twelve month staff are on Code 2, as safety permits.
Stafford County Public Schools will be closed. Employees are on Code 2. Administrative offices will open at 10 a.m.

Here we go … again.
The Fredericksburg region — including the counties of Spotsylvania, Stafford and King George — could see five to eight inches of snow accumulate between 5 p.m. Sunday through Monday afternoon.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning. A mix of rain and snow will develop late Sunday afternoon transitioning to all snow early Sunday evening, the NWS said.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a flood warning for the City of Fredericksburg and the counties of Spotsylvania, Stafford, Orange, Prince William and Eastern Culpeper.
By 2 p.m. April 30, about two inches of rain had fallen across the area since the morning, and numerous creeks, steams and rivers were overflowing their banks, the NWS said.

The rain has stopped but the National Weather Service has extended the flood warning until 11:30 a.m. May 1 for the Fredericksburg region.

A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for the Fredericksburg region until 10 p.m. June 11, including the City of Fredericksburg and the counties of Spotsylvania, Stafford, King George and Caroline.

The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for the Fredericksburg region from noon to 7 p.m. July 2. Heat index values are expected to reach about 105 degrees, with temperatures in the mid to upper 90s.
The combination of high temperatures and high humidity create a situation in which heat related illnesses are possible. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends these precautions:
Snow along Interstates 64, 81 and 68 “will have a significant impact on holiday travel plans,” the NWS said.
“Make a car emergency kit today, because you never know.”
