School Dressing Days serves needy children in grades K – 12.

The Fredericksburg Area Food Bank relies on donations. On August 5, Sarah Rosenbaum donated 48 pounds of food to the local nonprofit. What made this donation special was that Sarah raised the money to purchase the food — $61 — at a lemonade stand.
From 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Saturday, August 9, the Fredericksburg Area Food Bank is sponsoring a Food-4-Families Stock the School Pantry Food Drive. The food drive will take place at Celebrate Virginia Giant Food, 550 Celebrate Virginia Pkwy., Fredericksburg.

The Fredericksburg Area Food Bank has received a $21,000 grant from BJ’s Charitable Foundation. The foundation awarded grants to 30 Feeding America-member food banks this month in celebration of the company’s 30th anniversary.
September is Hunger Action Month, a nationwide campaign mobilizing the public to take action on the issue of hunger. It’s organized by the Feeding America nationwide network of food banks to bring greater attention to the issue of hunger in America and promote ways for individuals everywhere to get involved to solve it.
Your online votes can help the Fredericksburg Area Food Bank win $60,000 to support general hunger-relief initiatives in the Fredericksburg region.

Former Navy SEAL Stew Smith will join Dr. Stephen Erle for “Sports Training, Nutrition and Special Ops” from 10 – 11:45 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 4. The back-to-back presentations will be held at Salem Church Library, 2607 Salem Church Rd., Fredericksburg. The workshop is free, but donations of non-perishbale food items for the Fredericksburg Area Food Bank are requested.
