After five-miler was nixed, North Stafford High School graduate enters and wins Marine Corps Historic Half marathon.
More than 4,500 runners descended upon the streets of downtown Fredericksburg starting at 6 a.m. Sunday for the running of the Marine Corps Historic Half.
Seventy-six runners are part of an exclusive club whose members have completed the event every year since its inception in 2008.
Anticipate several road closures Sunday morning beginning at 12:01 a.m.
This year’s Historic Half participants are going to head home from race weekend talking about an even more memorable part of the 13.1-mile course—one that gets their blood pumping
without making their hamstrings ache.

It’s Marine Corps Historic Half weekend in Fredericksburg.
Stephen Harrison, a 26-year-old from Fredericksburg, is a track coach at Brooke Point High School in Stafford.
David McCallum will also appear at the Healthy Lifestyle Expo on May 16, 2015.
The Marine Corps Historic Half 2015 was run in Fredericksburg on May 17, 2015.

The three races of the Marine Corps Historic Half will impact traffic (map) in Fredericksburg, beginning at 5 a.m. on Sunday, May 18. Each race begins at 7 a.m., in different locations. Roads will reopen as soon as the last runners pass each area of the courses.
Tim Young of Fredericksburg and Stephanie Fulmer of Arlington were the fastest men and women’s runners in the Marine Corps Historic Half on May 18, according to the unofficial results posted Sunday afternoon.
The 27-year-old Young ran a 4:58 mile pace to finish the 13.1 miles in 1:05:09.
Fulmer, 24, ran a 6:30 mile pace to finish in 1:25:18.

Two course records were set Sunday morning as the second-largest field of finishers completed the Marine Corps Historic Half in Fredericksburg.
Historic Half record holder and Fredericksburg resident Tim Young, 27, crossed the finish in 1:05:09, breaking his own course record of 1:06:57.
