To Be Thrilled or Not to Be? Key Megatrends at Work with Janamitra Devan
Janamitra Devan, Ph.D. will discuss key megatrends that are shaping the world in which we work during a Thursday, Sept. 22, 2016, presentation at the University of Mary Washington. The 7:30 p.m. lecture will be held at UMW’s Fredericksburg Campus, 1301 College Ave., in Room 202 of Woodard Hall. The event is free and open to the public. Devan is a member of the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) Global Agenda Council on Competitiveness, and a recognized expert on megatrend assessments, competitiveness, strategy and leadership.

Joel Butterworth Joins Fredericksburg Smile Center
Joel Butterworth, D.D.S, has joined Fredericksburg Smile Center. Butterworth just completed a residency at the VA Medical Center in Portland, Oregon. He is son of Fredericksburg Smile Center’s founding dentist Cathie Hidalgo Seaman.

Dr. Samer Hijaz Joins Radiologic Associates of Virginia (RAF)
Dr. Samer Hijaz, a fellowship-trained interventional radiologist, has joined Radiologic Associates of Virginia. He recently completed his interventional radiology fellowship at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C., and also worked as a diagnostic radiologist at Johns Hopkins’ Suburban Hospital in Bethesda, Maryland. RAF’s outpatient facilities are near Lee’s Hill North, at Mary Washington Hospital and at Stafford Hospital.

Rappahannock Adult Activities Fall Plant Sale
Rappahannock Adult Activities Fall Plant Sale will hold their fall plant sale September 12 – 16 at the farmers market in Hurkamp Park, at the intersection of William and Prince Edward streets in Fredericksburg. Plants will be sold Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The plant sale provides an opportunity for the community to learn more about RAAI, a day program for individuals with developmental disabilities, said Melessa Suder, horticulture specialist.

The Rappahannock Area Family YMCA has announced its 2016 board officers. They are Regis L. Keddie III of The Keddie Group of Davenport and Company LLC as president; Lee Murray, financial adviser with Cary Street Partners, as vice president; Mark Loncar, CFO of Triad Technology Partners, as treasurer; and Philip H. RPI Group of Fredericksburg Awarded VRE Contract
RPI Group of Fredericksburg has been awarded a contract to perform a risk and security assessment of Virginia Railway Express’ bandwidth and network infrastructure. The work is in addition to ongoing support RPI provides VRE for installation of the federally-mandated Positive Train Control wireless network.
