Participants took part in one-mile and three-mile runs, with Sheriff Chris Giles carrying the torch to help spotlight support for Special Olympics Virginia athletes ahead of next month’s Summer Games in Richmond. The event also featured a silent auction and merchandise sales to raise additional money for Special Olympics Virginia programs.
The Sheriff’s Office has long supported Special Olympics Virginia through year-round fundraising events, including the Polar Plunge in Virginia Beach and the Fire Walk Challenge.
