Restaurant Inspections: Carlos O’Kelly’s, The Recreation Center, IHOP

 
Rappahannock Area Health District (RAHD) officials conducted restaurant inspections at the following Fredericksburg locations March 27 and 28, 2014.
A “critical violation” is one that “poses a direct or immediate threat to the safety of the food being served.”
“In our experience, it is unrealistic to expect that a complex, full-service food operation can routinely avoid any violations,” officials said on the Virginia Department of Health’s website.

Stonewall Heights Subdivision Planned on Lafayette Blvd.

Plans are underway to build a new subdivision along Lafayette Boulevard in Fredericksburg.
Stonewall Heights, planned as 12 single-family detached lots, would be located on 3.3 acres east of Lafayette Boulevard between Morningside Drive and Braehead Drive.

Scrapdoodles Closing in Central Park

Scrapdoodles is closing.  The scrapbooking store at 1315 Central Park Blvd. in Fredericksburg is selling its inventory, including store fixtures, at reduced rates.  They have posted new store hours for this period of transition:
Monday – Saturday 10 a.m. – 7 p.m.
Sunday 12 p.m. – 5 p.m.
Closed all Major Holidays
Store owners said on Facebook they estimate their last day will be sometime in May, depending on how quickly they sell all their merchandise.

Freehling Named Assistant Director For Economic Development

Free Lance-Star business reporter Bill Freehling has been hired as Fredericksburg’s new assistant director for economic development.
His duties will include assisting in the development of an economic development strategy, serving as the city staffer to the Fredericksburg Economic Development Authority and leading the city’s business recruitment and expansion programs, according to a press release.
