The full-service eye care store includes eye exams, pediatric eye care, a large frame selection, contacts, laser vision consultations, and diagnosis and management of ocular diseases.
Adam and Mitra Madison are the doctors of optometry at the location.  They also work with Dr. Wade Fiegel, O.D., at Eye Care Doctors of Optometry, 1669 Carl D. Silver Pkwy in Central Park.

$500 Offered for Fredericksburg Photo

$500 Offered for Fredericksburg Photo

The Fredericksburg Economic Development Authority (EDA) will pay $500 to the first individual or organization to submit a qualifying photo showing the exterior facade of the building at 1010 Caroline St. before it was renovated in 1955.
Tim and Margaret Park, who have operated Tim’s Mart at that location since 1985, are selling the 26,000-square-foot building.

Kickshaws Downtown Market Opens July 19

Kickshaws Downtown Market will open this weekend at 101 William St. in Fredericksburg.  The small grocery store features organic, locally sourced, all-natural and gluten-free products.
Hours for opening weekend are 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. Saturday, July 19, and 12 p.m. – 5 p.m. Sunday, July 20.

Scammers Targeting REC Members

Rappahannock Electric Cooperative (REC) is warning its members of scammers who have been calling to demand immediate payment for services.
“The scammers claim that electric service will be disconnected unless the bill is paid immediately,” said Maxie Rozell, REC’s manager of safety, security and risk management. “In addition, some have claimed there is a problem with the electric meter that could result in a fire if payment for replacement is not made immediately.”

Recently, I listened to a very wise man speak about Self Management vs. Time Management. My first thought was that this was a very odd topic for a minister. I was amazed at what he shared, and how he shared it, and I feel the need to share his insights with you. The concept is that we don’t need to learn better time management. Rather, we need to learn better self-management.

Orion Sushi Bar & Ultra Lounge Closes

Ryan Bullock, owner of The Orion Sushi Bar & Ultra Lounge, announced on Facebook he has closed his restaurant as of Saturday, July 19, 2014.  
Bullock has lived in the Fredericksburg area his entire life and moved into the city in 2012 to run for mayor.  He opened The Orion at 318 William St. last summer.  Following is what he wrote on Facebook about his decision.

Name Capital Ale’s Sandwich Invitational Entry

Capital Ale House Fredericksburg Sous Chef Sean Patrick Duffie has his recipe ready for the July 31 FXBG Sandwich Invitational, but the sandwich doesn’t yet have a name.  He’s open to suggestions.
The sandwich is a play on the restaurant’s successful Salmon and lox combination, Duffie said.  “I wanted to make a nice, lite, colorful summer sandwich,” he said.

Heritage Becomes Pappagallo Fine Gifts and Imports

Suzanne Metzger had been working as a senior business analyst at Geico in Stafford for 15 years and was ready for a change when an opportunity presented itself.  The owner of Heritage Gifts and Imports was selling.  Metzger bought the store’s inventory and changed the name to Pappagallo Fine Gifts and Imports.  The shop is located at 300 William St., across from Hyperion Espresso.
